Only A Glimmer – a poem

You give me only glimmers

Most times I’m in the dark

I want to feel your light on my face

I want to know you’re there

I stumble in the gloom, I fall a couple of times

And every time I stand, I want to see you there

When not a flicker comes from you, I stumble once more

I wade in doubt, I lose my spirits

Maybe if I light a match, you’ll bring a candle forth

But if I don’t see your silhouette, I’ll blow out the flickering flame

And so the dark consumes me

And so the gloom overcomes me

But who’s to say you’re not always there

A shadow that only thrives in light

But once in a while give me a sign

When I strike the match, show me your glory
